More About Lloyd's
What is Lloyd’s?
Lloyd’s is not an insurance company. We’re far
more. We are the world’s leading specialist
insurance market and we handle some of
today’s largest and toughest risks - risks like
hurricanes, terrorism, cyber-crime and political
unrest. In our time we have even insured
football clubs, Hollywood films and a certain
celebrity’s smile.
Over the course of 300 years, we’ve built up a
reputation for insuring things that others could
not. We are relied upon by organisations,
governments and individuals in more than 200
countries and territories worldwide. We are,
quite simply, an extraordinary organisation.
The graduate programme
Similarly, these are no ordinary graduate
careers. Through a series of placements
throughout the Corporation of Lloyd’s and the
market it oversees, you will have the chance to experience and influence many different aspects
of what Lloyd’s does — from business strategy
and underwriting through to market operations.
You will meet and work with a variety of highly
intelligent and experienced people, both within
the market (which underwrites the risks), and in
the Corporation. And at the end of the 18-month
programme, you will emerge with a unique and
panoramic view of Lloyd’s, the global insurance
industry and business in general.
Learning and development
Through internal courses, external courses,
group learning and on-the-job development,
we’ll help you build a formidable set of skills.
We’ll show you how to manage projects,
increase your commercial awareness and make
a direct impact. We’ll develop your ability to
communicate, influence and present to a variety
of people. And we’ll increase your personal
effectiveness and your ability to build and lead a
team.
