More About EDF
In the next decade, the energy industry will face some of its greatest ever challenges –
and EDF Energy is perfectly placed to tackle them. We’re constantly looking for new
sources of energy, new ways to improve the environment – and better ways of working.
Bringing together some of energy’s leading brands, we’ve created a major industry force spanning energy
generation, trading, distribution and supply, with a list of credits to our name linking us to Canary Wharf, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the DLR.
Our five main business areas take graduates into roles ranging from general management, commercial and graduate analyst roles to specialist power engineering roles. Wherever you join, you’ll be heavily involved in shaping our business.
Customers Branch
We supply 5.5 million gas and electricity customers from across the UK through our Customers Branch; split into residential and business areas, we focus heavily on being socially responsible to our customers. In the last five years, we have made many acquisitions, transforming ourselves into a national player. We’re looking for graduates with a degree in a business management or analytical discipline (minimum 2:2).
Energy Branch
This is the physical power behind the company.
Energy Branch runs our coal and gas power stations and wind farms; buys and sells power through our sister company – EDF Trading, and purchases coal and biomass on the UK markets to meet the needs of our generating plants and our Customers Branch. We need graduate analysts with a degree in economics, business geography, science or engineering disciplines (minimum 2:1).
Networks Branch
We’re the UK’s largest power distribution business, with networks in London, the South East and East of England. We own and maintain 48,000km of overhead power lines and 127,000km of underground cables which deliver power to 7.8million customers. The company is also a key player in national infrastructure projects including management of private electricity networks serving four London airports and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the country’s first major new railway in 100 years.
We need graduates with a degree in electrical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering (specialising in electrical or power engineering modules) and commercial graduates with a generalist or business management degree (minimum 2:1) and strong management skills.
Corporate Functions
Our Corporate functions provide key specialist support to our branches. We’ve Finance, IT, Legal, Nuclear and HR roles available for graduates (minimum 2:2 in some areas, 2:1 in others).
Training and Benefits
In each area, you can expect great benefits, including a final salary pension scheme and generous holidays. There’s also excellent training: our 18-month central graduate development programme will give you a broad understanding of the company. You will also have an opportunity to undertake specialist technical qualifications. For example, engineering graduates enjoy a 2-year IET
Accredited training programme, which can lead to Chartered Engineer status. Finance graduates are supported through their CIMA qualification. |
