You may have just graduated but your lifelong learning journey has just begun!
More studying may be the last thing you want to think about right now. But at some point you will almost certainly be returning to learning, whether through a postgraduate degree or as part of on-the-job training. Whatever you decide to do in the future, the Lifelong Learning Programme can enhance your learning with exciting European opportunities. It’s your chance to gain valuable new skills and immerse yourself in another culture. Here are some of the things you could be doing:
Learning for work
You can improve your employability with support from the Leonardo da Vinci programme* by undertaking a work placement in another European country. This is an excellent opportunity to spend up to six months abroad and gain the essential experience you need to be successful in the job market. The Leonardo project team can advise you about organisations in your area that can support you to take part.
Postgraduate placements
If you are staying on in Higher Education to do a postgraduate degree, Erasmus* is your ticket to study abroad, go on a work placement or work as a language assistant for between three months and one academic year. You can go to any European Union or European Economic Area country and students from all subject-areas can participate; from art to zoology, biology to psychology. However, please check with your home institution as not all institutions offer Erasmus for all subjects – so do your homework first.
Funding for education professionals
For graduates who are embarking on a career in the education sector, there are a number of options for you to consider. If you’d like to work in a school, Comenius* funding can enable you to spend time working as a teaching assistant in another European country and Grundtvig can support you working as an assistant if you want to embark on a career in adult education. Comenius and Grundtvig* In-Service Training grants are available to people who want to work schools or in adult education respectively. They can fund you to attend conferences, to job shadow colleagues in Europe or to go on training courses. |
